Peter's Story

Peter (not real name) came to Swansea from out of area. Peter became homeless after having to leave his home because of personal safety issues. Our Outreach staff supported Peter to access emergency accommodation – including the Swansea Night Shelter and the Emergency Bed in our rapid rehousing project. Goleudy was able to provide Peter with safe accommodation and holistic support whilst he looked for a long term, settled home.  The project worked with Peter to map out where he would like to live and explored all available accommodation options.  Peter also put his skills to creative use in the kitchen supporting other residents which was fantastic.

Goleudy worked with Peter to put forward an application to the Local Authority Move-On Panel for social housing. Peter was successful and he continued to live in the project until an offer was made from a Housing Association of a one-bed flat in an area of Peter’s choice. After leaving the project, Goleudy provided Peter with resettlement support for six weeks before handing over to Tenancy Support.  Peter regularly attends Goleudy’s Community Fridge and staff keep in touch with him every 3 months for a post-support prevention check-in. He is doing really well.
