Celebration of 50 years of Goleudy

4 August 2025

We held our 50 year celebration at the new Community Hub in Customs House on 8 July.

We were joined by funders, partners, supporters, local dignitaries — and some of the people we support through our Connect project, who were especially welcome guests. The Community Hub has become a safe and trusted space for them three days a week, so it felt only right that they were part of the celebration.

Importantly, the event was also a chance to showcase the breadth of Goleudy’s work across all our projects. From homelessness prevention and community housing, to mental health and community wellbeing, every part of what we do was represented and celebrated. The newly redeveloped Community Hub was just one of many areas that guests had the chance to explore and learn more about.

There were some fantastic moments throughout the day, including:

  • A warm welcome from Cheryl Philpott, Lord Mayor of Swansea
  • Reflections from our Chair of the Board, Neil O’Brien
  • A powerful keynote by Andrea Lewis, Deputy Leader of Swansea Council
  • Performances from Steve Balsamo, one of our Goleudy ambassadors
  • And a heartfelt — and hilarious speech from Owen Money, who brought his trademark humour and reminded us all why the work we do matters so much

Our CEO, Jim Bird-Waddington, summed up the spirit of the day beautifully:
"This milestone isn’t just about looking back — it’s about reaffirming our commitment to the people and communities we serve. We’ll continue to adapt and respond to need, just as we have for the past 50 years."

Here’s to the next 50 years!
