Community Fridge Swansea - Volunteer Opportunities

Established in February 2019, Community Fridge Swansea is an innovative and exciting project, which utilises food surplus to provide people with access to good quality, fresh food; tackling food poverty and insecurity, while also reducing waste.

How it Works

Businesses and retailers donate surplus food to the Community Fridge, and we distribute it to members of the community, on a pay as you feel or donation basis. On average, we divert over 1 tonne of food from going to landfill per month and make sure it goes to those who can put it to good use.

Food Collector Role

We need volunteer food collectors to pick up donations from local stores and drop them off at our head office on Cambrian Place, The Marina, Swansea.

You will need to be physically fit, a good communicator and be able to work independently. You will need access to a vehicle. Mileage expenses will be paid.

Aside from this, all we ask is that you bring a positive attitude and enthusiasm for helping the wider community and the reduction of food waste.

We're currently looking for volunteers to fill the following shifts:

  • Monday - 12pm - 3pm - Sainsbury's Swansea City Centre
  • Tuesday - 2pm - 3pm - Booker Llansamlet
  • Tuesday - 2pm - 4pm - Asda Llansamlet
  • Wednesday - 8am - 9am - M&S Mumbles
